Ive just started to play squash and want to purchase my own racket. Theres a sale on all squash rackets on amazon.co.uk at the moment – and all are going pretty cheap! Thing is, i have no idea which to buy. Any recommendations? What about good makes? What about titanium models – what are they like? I want something that will last me through uni (starting next year).

Tried Colleges/Universities but seeking place with open minds!!?
I am an African-American that has tried going to Colleges/Universities that are not African-American focused because I thought that I could be more well rounded in a school that has students/teachers from across the ethnic landscape.
However, so far I’ve tried CUNY and SUNY and had little intellectual stimulation and open-mindedness. I did find a handfull of Professors and admin who were not bigots, but for the most part, the educational systems I found were entrenched in "old school racist ideologies and lesson plans". After standing up to these systems, they have SQUASHED my desire to be in such environments, and I am not evaluating whether I should go to a HBC (Historically Black College) or just focus on teaching myself!!
Any suggestions on whether there are good schools out there that will allow an African-American male to be a man and not "beat the manhood out of our minds and spirits". (I recently dealt with the CUNY School of Professional Studies, not a good experience.)
I’m fortunate to have National Deans List, Who Who, President’s List, etc. Also have various athletic and other awards and business commendations. BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT THAT WOULD CHALLENGE ME, NURTURE ME and not PUNISH ME FOR HAVING INSIGHT AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS meant to benefit students, faculty and admin! It often seems that there are two (2) educational systems (from kindergarten to Post grad). One for the average european, and/or minorities with $ (even then there are issues, I paid for my Associates and still had challenges), while the other EDUCATIONAL system either brainwashes or EXCLUDES certain minority men, using various illegal tactics like Selective Services, or tests that public schools have not prepared urban males to take!!!! (Some of these academic weaknesses haven’t affected me, but even with Regents high scores, and other accolades, it seems that giving feedback is taboo since I fit into group 2 (indicated above).
I’ve had the good fortune to assist persons pursuing their Masters and Doctorate level work, but have a hard time getting my own. I find that some persons dumb down their intellect and decide not to "challenge the system" in order to get their degree, but I find it difficult to accept "mundane intellect". Don’t I have a right to be an insightful student? Or must I act like this is "1899" or earlier? My name is not Toby folks, can’t I be a MAN in 2008??
UPDATE: I was a teacher at a private school and got excellent reviews from both students and administrators UNTIL I questioned some racist hiring practices and certain school assemblies where racist teachings were expoused. I was FIRED. Also, my son was in a school (PS 87) where the female teacher routinely sent Black boys to the Principal’s office for offenses that she allowed white students to get away with. Further, I visited the class and found that she IGNORED Black boys thus they were not incorporated into the fabric of the class. She also made jokes about certain Black students. With all this, I wrote letters to school admin. I went to the Board of Ed, U.S. Dept of Ed, and got NOWHERE. I ended up putting my son into a private school and eventually seek to HOME SCHOOL! Many people will not understand what I am going through because if you are not BLACK or have the ability to do your own investigation, you can’t relate to this at all probably!!!! Thanks for the post. Lots of my frustration with the University in question is that on basic matters (Selective Services, for example) the school reps, typically had "no clue" what the legislation stated and even told me that they’d have to read up on it. Thus how could they make blanket statements/generalizations that negatively impacted the lives of many students, without even doing their own research.
Thanks for your feedback, and surely no student should make ignorant comments without some research. But surely, I’ve found that my students were my greatest teachers, when it came to challenging positions with some new perspectives and deep insights, outside the traditional box that we are often taught in. Thanks for your response.
I understand that bigotry permeates our society, but I have to wonder about your expectations when you say that you only found a handful of people who were not bigots at CUNY and SUNY. I wonder if your expectations of a college or university are realistic. I think you need to think more about what you are looking for, and if it makes sense, before pcking another college. By several things you say, my guess is that you would be equally frustrated in an HBCU environment.
You speak about faculty not wanting to be challenged, yet from the sound of things, you may be rather early in the educational process (you do mention having been a teacher, though, so I wonder if you are talking about graduate school or a basic undergraduate education). I think many would relish being challenged intellectually by someone who was familiar with the discipline, but think about how you would feel if you had spent forty years learning everything there was to read about your subject matter and some new freshman, who had read none of it, started trying to poke holes in everything you said. Education is a process, and I used to say to my students (particularly when I was young and students questioned my credibility) that we all have our areas of expertise. I did not doubt that there were many things in the world about which they know more than I did, but they had chosen to take my class, and it was in my area of expertise, so they needed to start out by respecting that I had a head start on them. Once they had read enough to understand what had been done in the field, then we could have a realistic dialogue. I never minded a challenge based on logic; what were really irritating were those few students who just rejected entire bodies of knowledge without reading them just because they were convinced it would all be cr*p if they did read it! You can’t hold a dialogue that way!
I think what I am trying to ask is, have you listened as much as you have tried to argue against? Usually the process begins by having you read and listen, but I get the sense from reading this that rather than trying to absorb and process the information, which is the usual way of beginning to learn, you are trying to dismiss it. I may be reading you incorrectly, but that would be off-putting for just about anyone.
You also talk about having your manhood beaten out of you and standing up to such systems. I am probably pretty typical of faculty who would love to make our courses more open to all perspectives and would welcome help in doing so (heck, I’ve taken seminars in multicultural pedagogies), but would probably be more defensive if someone approached me in a hostile manner.
What does open-minded mean to you? Does it mean accepting all information equally? That may sound good on the surface, but does a random comment from someone merit as much consideration as something tested in an experimental setting? Does someone’s distant view merit as much as lived experience? Do we take everything off the internet as being as meaningful as something which has gone through multiple layers of a review process?
What I am saying is that while you would not be the first to be understimulated at a university, your expectations may also need to be revised in order to allow you to be satisfied anywhere. I think it would be sad if you ended up just teaching yourself, because you would be doing the opposite of learning, which is broadening your perspectives to incorporate those of others, rather than just narrowing them further to become more convinced of your own "rightness". I don’t think you will find the environment you think you want to find now, but there may be good reasons for that, and you need to be more open to understanding why that is, rather than simply rejecting it as bigoted. You don’t need to lose yourself or your manhood in the process; frankly if you had it in the first place, it would be almost impossible to lose it unwillingly. But I don’t really understand what YOU think manhood is and what you are concerned about losing.

I will be starting my baby on food in a couple of weeks and my pediatrician wants me to start with yellow veggies first but what else is yellow besides squash and corn? You aren’t even suuposed to start cron until they are a year old.

What is a good way to prepare squash?
Planted a garden again this year and added squash, I just don’t know what to do with it now. What are some good recipes?
It’s yellow squash.
A healthy option:
GARLIC BAKED SQUASH
2 lbs winter squash
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon oil
7-8 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 325F.
Wash and peel the squash and cut into bite sized pieces. You can use acorn, butternut, or hubbard squash or similar winter squash varieties.
Coat the squash cubes with flour that has been seasoned lightly with salt and pepper.
Grease a casserole dish with oil or vegetable spray.
Put the squash into the pan, and top with garlic and parsley.
Season with salt and pepper.
Bake for 60 to 80 minutes, or just until squash is tender.
Yield: 6 servings

Does it look like we have an imposter in our organization ?
1. P. was an elite squash player.
Not at all surprising that he might be playing squash with the captain of the navy base.
P. was doing the most difficult programming.
There’s some evidence that D. might have doctored the executable model
of the system being coded.
The captain asked P. about the difficulty of the work and P. answered.
P. was censured by D. for talking to the captain.
2. A simulator was being set up in a new building.
Someone decided the existing simulator, in another building, was not needed.
The DT&E lab that existed in the other building was cleared out. (All wiring etc. was removed as well).
Then it was realized that a DT&E lab would still be needed.
A. assisted with the wiring.
A report was written saying that A. hadn’t assisted.
Somehow there was a culture in the organization to accept rather than query written documents.
3. V. was noted for good quality work.
He was asked to witness some factory tests. He must have come up with the “wrong” findings, as he was told he was poor at report writing, and was not asked to witness further factory tests.
4. On some Tuesday nights there was an opportunity to trial new system builds.
There was a special simulator system to drive the rest of the system. J. and L. came along, intending to “drive” the simulator. “D” appears on the night, and tells L. to go home, saying J. can work by himself.

Was anybody disappointed by tonights RAW?
I was…besides the main event..I felt the way the new champions were booked on this card was bad…Kofi and CM Punk had weak opponents that didn’t really give them any push. If the opponents were going to be weak…at least one of them..maybe Cm Punk’s match should’ve been a squash.
And where were the tag champs?!

YES! Finally someone agrees with me, I was very disapointed by tonight’s Raw.
Compared to last week, it wasn’t very good. Every match was predictable to the T… I knew Mickie and Kelly were going to face Jillian and Layla, and I had a feeling Kelly would pin Jillian [which is utter BS I think] Not to mention, every match had obvious results besides the main event [even though I knew it'd be between Batista or Cena at the end since no way was JBL going to win and Kane had almost slim to no chance.] Rey’s match, it was obvious Santino would win since it was Rey’s debut match. Punk’s match should have been a squash match, I agree because it was obvious Snitsky wouldn’t win and it was basically a waste of time. He should have had a more worthy opponent. Really, it almost seemed like some of the matches were fillers or something.. I hope they are saving good matches for later or something because quite frankly, I was not at all impressed. The only part that I wasn’t totally expecting was Kane turning heel, which was pretty cool. I like him as a heel, and I am hoping he will begin to Main event soon again.
Yeah, where were the tag champs? A match with them would have been way more interesting, IMO.
The only good part of Raw today were some of the promos.. I’m liking what I’m seeing when it comes to mic skills with CM Punk and Chris Jericho, etc. But the matches were quite predictable, and the thing with Cena, JBL and Cryme Tyme, though it was amusing, was somewhat a waste of time.

Moving from USA to Cairo – Where are the best areas in Cairo Egypt to live? Safest, most quiet, cleanest?
I am relocating to Cairo in a week or so. I am in professional sport and will be running an academy based there. I will be paid what seems to be a fairly considerable amount of money on their/Egypt standards, just under $100K USD per year. What are the nicest, cleanest, safest, most modern and if possible the most quiet places to live in Cairo, perhaps with international "flavor" and not necessarily an expat community.?. I have also heard that buying a car can be a very very expensive endeavor there. Is this accurate and what brands seem to be more expensive/less expensive? While I have your attention, as far as outfitting my home/apt/condo, what household items are expensive and what are typical and reasonable? Is there an area that I can live where I don’t necessarily need a car at all? Where I can walk to and from everything I need conveniently? Well, you have to be one hell of a sports coach to make $100K, that is a lot of money here. Anyway, let me tackle your questions;
1- The most important thing is for you to live near your work cause Cairo is a big city and is very congested. You dont want to spend several hours a day driving to and back from work, so find out where the academy is located and will provide you with the best neighbourhood where u can reside. If you prefer not to get into the details then the logical order is as follows;
- Maadi – clean, green, pubs, restaurants, lots of expats, expensive.
- Zamalek – central location, lots of restaurants etc
- El Sheikh Zayed – new suburb, a little far from everything but quiet, clean, beautiful new homes and a great community.
- Buying a car can be expensive cause of the high customs. Egypt is one of the most expensive countries when it comes t buying a car, but u will more than make up for it cause gas is 25 cents. Buying a car can be tricky, imported cars are the most expensive, it really boils down to your budget. Below are a few examples for how much brand new cars cost in U.S$
- Toyota Corolla 1.6l = $25,000
- BMW 320 2.0L = $61,000
- Hyundai Elantra= $16,000
I am including a link below to a site that has the prices for most cars available in the market, go through the site and choose based on your budget.
You will need a car, trust me on this one, public transportation system is terrible her. It is one of those countries where u must have a car. It would be a good idea to hire a driver, I would highly recommend u do so cause it will save u the hassle of driving in the busy streets and finding a place to park, driver wont cost u much, should be around $200 a month.
On the household front, you should try and rent a furnished apartment. Most apartments that are listed for rent are usually fully furnished, furniture is rather expensive here and there is no Ikea yet. In general most stuff except for consumer goods are more expensive because of custom duties. So, anything imported will be on the expensive side, locally produced stuff will be cheap. You will be surprised at how cheap food and beverages are cheap here.

How long will cut and peeled butternut squash keep in the fridge?
I’m trying to get some stuff for Christmas dinner done ahead of time and want to know if I can cut and peel the squash tonight and stick it in a ziploc bag with a damp paper towel. So it would be in there for five days. Same deal with parsnips. Thanks!

No, I wouldn’t do that. Do it on Christmas Eve, no earlier.
EDIT: I don’t think angelica knows what butternut squash is. The squash takes almost the same time to cook as the potatoes. I wouldn’t peel the parsnips now because they will go brown. One thing you could do is prep them 2 days before christmas and par boil them and keep them in a tub in the fridge. Then they would be ok to cook on christmas day and take less time too.
Keep them in the fridge in the veg crisper and they will be fine unpeeled.

Recommended squash rackets?
Recently broke my wilson hyper hammer squash racket which weighed 110g. I wanted to buy the same one again, but wilson don’t manufacture it anymore, so what rackets would people recommend?

The racket that immediately springs to mind is the Head 115 CT. It is lightweight and weighted head heavy, like the Hyper Hammer. It packs a lot of power and has good touch as well. In that sort of weight, you might also like the Harrow Vibe at 125g strung weight (110g unstrung, same as HH) or Dunlop Evolution 120 (a little too light for my liking though this one).

My English literature teacher……?
She is patronizing and constantly tries to impose her own interpretation of poetry or a book on you. And I find it is disheartening, I don’t enjoy English lessons as much as I used to, ever since we got her as a teacher. My interpretetions are not absurd or too outside the box, she just tries so hard to assert that something means what she wants it to mean and nothing else: even when you can back your ideas up with evidence from the text. She does’nt inspire you to develop your own ideas. I don’t know what to do, she’s totally squashing my enthusiasm
What a pity. Don’t worry about it. If you have true enthusiasm you have one of two choices: you can defy her on tests, but you should expect to pay some sort of penalty, or you can ignore her completely and not take what she says seriously. Listen just well enough to understand her point. Try and see a pattern. What way does she consistently interpret things? There’s always a pattern to such things. It might be fun as well as valuable to try and discover what the pattern is. There is more at work here than you can guess: my opinion is that if you knew, you would likely pity her more than despise her or defy her. Not everyone is a Miss Gruwald.
Remember you will only have her this year/term.

Match 1: Danny Granger vs. MA Beast
After being interrupted on Warzone, MA Beast needed to let go of some anger. The way he did that was by facing a winless Danny Granger. A vicious superkick ended Granger’s misery. After the squash, MA looked ready to announce his stipulation. But, yet again, the lights went out. But, he was standing in the ring when they came on. So he tried again. But, the music of a returning Prasdana stopped the announcement in its tracks. Prasdana looked for revenge after Granger shattered his hand. A Flaming Tables Match was made for Desire 4 Fire between the two. A brawl between Prasdana and DG insued, as MA joined in by grabbing a chair, and hitting Prasdana with it.
Match 2: The Big 3 vs. BJ Styles and Killzone
This was an exciting match, as the Tag Champs seemed to overcome the numbers game by executing various double team moves and dives. At one point, Killzone ran through the ropes onto Banks and Business. This left only Styles and Justin. Justin stepped up his game, hitting a Killswitch on BJ for the win. As a stipulation, BJ Styles and Killzone now have to find out their match at D4F. It will be BJ Styles and Killzone vs. The Charger and The Twister in an Elimination Inferno Match.
Main Event: Betrayal Match to Determine Number One Contender For UWA Championship
Part 1: BJ Styles, Killzone, Marq Banks, Justin, The Twister, and Jack Hunter vs. True Aussie, Ramjet 1.0, The Charger, Big Nay, Blade, and Nigey Bonez

This match was, to say the least, awesome. These teams operated like they should be Trio Champions right now. In the end, it would be Ramjet’s powerbomb that would end it, as his partner and The Charger advanced along with him.

The team from Australia quickly eliminated The Charger from the match, double suplexing him through the announce table. When they got back in the ring, True Aussie did what no one could have predicted: He laid down. He knew that his partner had a better chance of bringing the championship to Australia than TA did. Regretfully, RJ accepted the pin, and became the new #1 Contender to Risky Business’ championship. After the grueling match, RB came out and had a staredown with RJ, ending the show.

In Budapest almost all squash courts have racket and ball rental. The racket is around 2-3 USD (500HUF) the ball is somewhat cheaper (around 200HUF)

I’ve played before.. so know the rules but have no idea how good I am compared to other players so still regard myself as amateur. I want a new racquet but which is good? Or which should I avoid? I have a very limited budget, I just don’t want something that’s going to break too easily..

f your a child you want one weighing lower than 20lbs, u dont want to to big or long,
but if your an adult get one thats heavier, dont get a good brand beacuse your beginning

Can I replace squash blossom with squash in a squash blossom soup recipe?
I have a recipe for squash blossom soup. I have been wanting to make it for some time but the problem is where I live. I am not able to get my hands on squash blossoms and was wondering if I could use squash instead of the blossom?
You’re not going to get nearly the same result, but you might still have an interesting dish. The squash blossom is just that: the flower of the squash plant. The squash itself is a very different thing: firm and fleshy. You cannot substitute one for the other and get a similar result. You’d be better off substituting soemthing that has a similar texture to a flower blossom, like a mild green (baby lettuce of any variety except iceberg, for example).

How long can vegis be out of the frig and still be safe to eat?
I came in from the grocery store last night around 6pm and thought I put everything away in the frig that needed to be cold. Well I just realized I left Zucchini, Squash, Romaine lettuce, mushrooms, and fresh corn in the bags from the store (my house is very cool with temp around 70:( I hate to think I have to throw it all away but I don’t want to get sick either. Please HELP with any suggestions! This is a learning lesson for sure for me to slow down. Thanks everyone

Does playing squash screw up playing Piano????
I am really seeking for this question answer cauz I am a piano player but i love playing squash and tennis and i heard that these sports stiffen the wrist which is not good for piano playing…soooo???
Playing squash and tennis will have little effect your piano playing until you get older . . . unless you get hurt. I would imagine there is a greater risk of injury when playing squash than when playing tennis. You have to determine the relative importance of each activity for you.

With all the criticism surrounding Sheamus, who else should be getting pushed (More Inside)?
I’ve seen so much criticism over Sheamus getting the push now and believe me I am one of them that thinks he doesn’t deserve it. I know he is a new person coming into the title picture but when you look at it Cena and others said Legacy hasn”t done anything. Well really what has Sheamus done in his WWE career so far except be pushed as a new heel into the main event picture too fast. I think Legacy sure has done a lot more than Sheamus, they defeated to of the biggest stars in WWE being DX at Breaking Point in a really good match, and they also main evented at Hell in a Cell with DX.
Their accomplishments make them more deserving than a lot of the younger stars on the roster. Then you would have Jack Swagger who has actual wrestling ability and the charisma to main event. Jack Swagger actually main evented on ECW by winning the ECW title while Sheamus basically only had squash matches. Kofi Kingston has went far from winning the IC title, the tag titles, and the US title (which he held for a considerable amount of time) he also defeated two former world champions within seconds of each other at Survivor Series.
So taking a look at this I don’t think Sheamus was the right person to be pushed yet, I’m glad WWE is finally giving new people chances it shows they are progressing to try and make their product better. I just think it should go to the ones who have actually done something to show they deserve to be in the main event spotlight.
My questions are:
1.What is your honest opinion of Sheamus getting the push over everyone else?
2.If you like Sheamus getting the push then why do you think he’s the right person? (not just because it’s something new. Need Explination.)
3.If you don’t like him being the one pushed, then who should have been pushed? (if not someone I said then who? Explain)

I’m one of those people who don’t mind him being in the main event. I mean people like someone new right? I am tired seeing people going around saying how "WWE haven’t done shít making new main eventers" then when there is someone new people would complain about it. Don’t get me wrong I know the reasons are good enough to hate on Sheamus’ push. I’m not going to be talking about it in defense on how it shouldn’t really be a factor of how he doesn’t much deserve his push. But don’t people want anyone fresh in the main events? Not another "Cena vs Orton" or "Cena vs HHH" and now when they’re given to what the fans want what do they do? Of course find the fault about the decisions.
Sometimes it’s just about the wrestling nature. On how since the exposure of kayfabe that the fans have to find what’s up with the storyline happening. Like I said the fans don’t become satisfied with what’s given in front of them. They need to find something bad about it then criticize it. And I will admit I’m a victim of that. Not being content with what’s given in front of us. Back to my point whenever the fans look at something in front of them wrestling wise of course they would have to find what’s the thing to criticize it about. Of course this is sometimes not the case as sometimes the fans do get content with the product and the things they like about it covers the things to be criticized about. And with that Sheamus being pushed to the main event for the title is something that’s been criticized for weeks now. It’s nothing really different.
Back to my answer it’s been criticized for weeks now so it’s something not really new. I expected this kind of criticism especially with today’s fans with how much understanding they have with the business. And also with this understanding in the business they want someone new in the main event. Now that they got someone new they complain. Ain’t that kind of being a hypocrite? I know some will say that "there are wrestlers who deserves it more" which I do agree but what’s wrong when he’s the chosen one? I mean WWE had been fúcking up for a while now and they made him go for the main event and now suddenly he’s going to fail for being overpushed. I mean I remember before he got his push people were all like "Sheamus is the future of WWE" and "Sheamus has got what it takes to be on top" now it’s "Sheamus doesn’t deserve this push" or "He still doesn’t have that x factor" or something. Because what only thing he had done is beat up jobbers. They’re showinng him more of a serious competitor now and with this push I think he’s taken more seriously.
I think this push had made the fans take Sheamus more seriously. I mean before this push people were also talking about Sheamus’ skin. I had seen comments like "Sheamus is white as fúck" or "He’s whiter than the damn ring mat". Now with this push he’s taken more seriously. I will say that the comments about him is not that serious I mean the fans say about how he’s not seen as a serious competitor to be in the main event. Now he’s taken more seriously I mean back then his skin color overshadowed his wrestling skills.
To answer your questions:
1. My opinion is I’m OK with it. I want someone new and fortunately I see someone on the main event without the names Hunter and Randy in their names. He’s a great wrestler who could do decent promos. And we could see that he could do great things on the mic. And he could handle some matches even against the best of them. So what’s wrong with him? People say he’s the future then why can’t the future be right now? I mean if he will be the future why can’t he establish his career right now? Sheamus in the main event is OK with me even though there are wrestlers that deserves this push more than him it’s still OK. We want someone fresh we got it. Then why complain about it?
2. Why? Simply because he’s someone who I know could become a main eventer. I see potential in him. I remember this one wrestler named JBL. He got pushed the same way like Sheamus. He wasn’t known much then he feuded with Eddie Guerrero for the WWE title. Some people say he didn’t have the potential because of course he haven’t established his career yet. Then he of course became a successful champion and carried SmackDown! for a year. He’s accepted as a champion and as a heel everyone hated him. I see the same with Sheamus. Sheamus could do promos and maybe he doesn’t have the same gimmick but if WWE handles him very well he could prove all the doubters and the sceptics wrong. And when he does I wouldn’t be shocked.

Well it’s been a roller coaster of a two weeks for sport
From Mohamed Homos’ stunning match winning header for the Pharaohs, the first in 15 attempts from Africa to beat Italy
against the world champions the Azzuari. A big big shock and well deserved. No more no less. Pakistan’s Twenty20 win at Lord’s against Sri Lanka to the Red White and Blue’s win against Egypt. I didnt see the match myself so i can’t say if they deserved the match or not even if it was 3-0.
In my opinion both teams deserved to go through but my personal favourite was Egypt
Never the less Congratulations to the United States
these moments bring happiness and are worth gold to some so cherish

What does it mean to plant squash in a hill?
The zucchini package says to plant my squash in a hill. What does this mean? Do i have to raise the soil (or dump a bunch on to make a hill?). Or do i just plant them all next to each other? Won’t they get crowded and develop fungus easier if i do that?
The "hill" method is almost always used by the home gardener for squash. It means to prepare a small area of your garden into small hills. Maybe 15-18 inches in diameter of well tilled soil. Make them about 3-4 ft. apart. Then plant 5-6 seeds in each hill. When they are about 2" tall thin them to 3 plants per hill. No they won’t get fungus from being planted that way.
