Racquetball on a squash court?

Is it possible to play racquetball on a squash court? There aren’t any courts around where I live, and I’m just wondering if squash players would turn their nose up to something like that.

Also, if anyone lives near or around Oshawa, Ontario… Would you know where I could find a court BESIDES Kingsway College?

An American squash court is 5ft longer and 5ft wider than a regular racquetball court, however the international squash court dimensions are pretty different.

The front wall of a squash court will have a a line about 17 inches off the floor called the "tin" which is usually raised off the wall (like a dado rail) and will cause the ball to take a different trajectory if hit. The upper line on the front wall is a similar height at about 20ft, and you can ignore the lines on the side walls.

The squash service line is quite a bit further back from the front wall – it lies approximately 5ft beyond where the receiving line is in racquetball!

Personally I think you should be fine playing the game, but in terms of serving and floor markings you might have to have some kind of gentleman’s agreement beforehand when determining service.

Which squash racket should I buy ?, Dunlop or Wilson ?

Hey guys,

Here are the Dunlops

http://www.dunlopsport.com/gb/catalog/2010/squash/rackets

Here are the wilsons

http://ns.wilson.com/squash/catalog/09_10_SquashCatalog.pdf

http://www.wilson.com/wilson/racquet/index.jsp?CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=10134198673996854&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=9852723697226445

Any recommendations ?
Thanks tojours for replying. I’m an intermediate player, I play once or twice a week within my university, so I’m not an amateur yet not a professional.

My priorities in a racket is that it doesn’t break easily, big enough headsize, shots are strong and have control. I don’t worry about the weight, price, etc.

I like the Dunlop Aerogel 4D Ultimate, but I heard it breaks easily. I also like the Wilson K Factor Blade FX, and the Wilson K Factor Sonix FX, Are the BLX ones better for me ?

I’ve had both Dunlop and Wilson. I actually prefer Head and Prince better than the formers. I play and compete with Head’s Cyano 115. It’s one of the lightest racquets out there and I have a lot of control in my play. I’ve previously owned Wilson’s One20 BLX. Dunlop’s Aerogel 4D Elite is another good racquet. I highly suggest all of those.

It all really depends how advanced you are in squash. If your a beginner, you don’t need an expensive racquet. I suggest going with the Prince Starer Pack because it comes with a racquet, goggles, blue ball, and carrying case. If your a beginner, look for a heavier racquet >155grams. If your more advanced look for a lighter racquet <140grams.

edit: All lighter racquets do break easier, but they are the only type of racquet that will give you the necessary amount of control. I suggest you buy two of the same racquets, that way if a racquet does break, you have a spare. I didn’t have a Dunlop Aerogel 4D Ultimate, but I did own the 4D Elite, and it seemed sturdy. The strings broke on one occasion, but that was simple enough to fix. I have a friend who has the Ultimate and hers did snap in half, but it was because she was being careless.

My preference over the ones you mentioned is the Dunlop Aerogel, but the others you mentioned are fine. I’ve never played with the Wilson K Factor Sonix FX, but I have demoed the Blade FX and it was a good racquet, the Sonix is also an FX series racquet, so it probably preforms around the same level. FX racquets are stiffer, which I really liked because they gave me more control. I really preferred the BLX over the FX, though, because my shots felt a lot smoother and the grip has more shock absorption.

I suggest demoing each racquet and hit yourself rails for an hour or so to get a feel for each racquet. If you have a friend around, play a match and see which you prefer. I still say that the Head Cyano is still the way to go, but the ones you named are very good racquets too.

SmackDown! Presents: No Way Out

- WWE Championship: Steel Cage
JBL (c) vs. The Big Show

- Singles Match
Torrie Wilson vs. Hirokio

- Number One Contender’s Match
(2 Finalists in the Tournament)

More matches to be announced.

Good Show.

Rating: 9.3/10
Best Match: Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match
Worst Match: Undertaker vs. Billy Kidman
Best Night: Batista & Big Show
Worst Night: JBL and his cabinet
TV Rating: 2.10

BQ: i think it’s great build up.

This show reminded me of a Smackdown episode from either 2004 or 2005 with the whole Batista coming to Smackdown thing.

I’m predicting that at No Way Out JBL retains his title and Big Show gets attacked by the cabinet and then Batista comes out. JBL leaves the ring and gets attacked by John Cena which leads up to a Wrestlemania match which Cena will probably win and then go to Raw and have a feud with Christian & Chris Jericho. Remember it’s a prediction.

If that doesn’t happen then JBL could finish feuding with Big Show & Batista.

2- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Squash-racquet-and-ball.jpg

The rackets in pic 1 are probably really really old squash racket. They stop making the round shape squash racket LONG time ago. Probably 20 plus years ago. Pic 2 is the shape of the recent squash racket :)

squash players- do you find your swing get’s spoiled if you play tennis as well?

is there anything you can do to stop this?

I definitely think it does! To prevent this I simply had to quit tennis. I know a lot of tennis players who are automatically able to adapt, but I was not one of those, and I play squash competitively, so I decided to choose it over tennis.

Talk to your coach for advice. Mine suggested that I held my squash racquet while watching TV to get used to the different grip than practice swings in my room. Practice is really the only way to get back to your squash swings.

The "real" squash racquet is the 2nd link. The first one is for racquetball, which is completely different. A good beginner racquet would be the Prince Starter Kit. It’s about $70 and it comes with a racquet, ball, goggles, and racquet case. Avoid the light and expensive racquets until you get better.

why we consider Egypt as a one of the main destinations for Golfers?

Egypt is qualified to be one of the most important golf centers in the world since it enjoys an ideal climate and is distinguished on all countries of the Mediterranean by its clear weather all over the year and especially in winter.
Not only playing golf, but also enjoying moderate climate coupled with unique sightseeing and excursions in Ancient Egypt places and magnificent Resorts In Egypt, the weather is almost certain to accommodate ones desire to play golf (and perhaps, sight seeing, shopping and other activities might accommodate a bored spouse at the same time).
No where else in the world can one play golf in the shadows of the Great Pyramids, or play 18 holes in the morning, and then visit the mountain where Moses passed down the ten commandments in the afternoon.
The presence of various tourist sites in Egypt is another important factor that contributes to the flourishing of this sport in the future.
One of the closest and nicest golf courses in Egypt, is that one located in Cairo. The golf course is situated in an area called Dream land, which is really a nice dream to enjoy. The magnificent golf course overlooks the superb view of the Giza Pyramids & Sphinx.
A little more towards the North, till you reach Alexandria, where golf courses there are of no exception. It’s said that the British originally started building this historical course at the " Alexandria sporting club", in the 19 th century, then restorations and renewals were made but the course still bares its charm.
Going to the Red Sea, exactly heading to El-Gouna or Sharm El-Sheikh, where vivid a course lies in an enchanting view. During your golf tournament in one of the magnificent courses there, you will be encircled by scenery for the exotic beaches of the Red Sea.
This time pack to the South, towards Luxor, city of mystery. Golf courses at Luxor are so unique, and identified by the picturesque scenes of the mountains and tombs of the Ancient Egyptian kings.
www.egypttravelers.com
From the previously mentioned points, we can safely say that Egypt has most, if not all of the main requirements to attract golf players or golf tourists from all over the world.

NO ONE in the golfing comminity cosiders Egypt aa a golf destination….plzzz
