I’m good at squash, ranked top 3 regionally. I also have great SAT and school scores, and extracurricular, plus I lead several Humanitarian and Political groups. What are the opportunities of a squash admission to IVY schools, if not a scholarship. I know squash is considered an "Elite" sport for universities. Will a university that has a squash team give commendation to a great squash player; will this put me at an advantage over others in my application? Thanks.
Ivy Universities do not give sports scholarships or admissions.

What are the chances of a squash admission to American (Ivy) Universities?
The Size of The Fiber Tells You A Lot About The Bed Sheet
The quest for some luxury bedding is a battle between what feels really good by the touch of your hand and what does not. Then you also have things like thread count that people think go hand in hand with everything. Thread count was actually just a marketing ploy to help sell more cotton bed sheets.
One thing that a lot of people have no idea about is the size of the thread and what that does to the luxury quality of the sheets. For example, if you have silk and you look at it against cotton you will see something very different. From a strictly size perspective, a silk thread is tiny compared to a cotton thread.
This does many things like makes silk extremely softer but still allows it to breath really well. If you have every felt a high thread count cotton sheet, you know it’s thick and it makes sense since there are a ton of thick threads packed in tightly. However, with silk you don’t have that problem as much because you can pack a lot more smaller threads together before you run into something similar.
So when you look for luxury bedding, don’t blindly accept the thread count myth. Ask more about the fibers themselves and what they do to you in the sheet. That is how you will find the best sleep you can.
What is the difference between Squash racket’s strings?
I been playing for some time now with someone else’s racket and now was looking into various types of rackets ’cause i wanted to get one of my own. But I’m not exactly sure which the difference is between a 14 x 20 string and a 16 x 18, and how it affects my game.
Mainly I play just for fun, but I’d rather have one that suits me best. I like power-playing, but usually tend to try to tire the other player.
Thanks!
its just the sting pattern. the number vertical string and the number of horizontal string. its the shape of the racket that effect the rackets power along with racket weight, racket head balance, any technology used. your arm strength speed and endurance. I’m a simmer player to you and because I know my mind body can go forever weight wont affect me. and i know I’m strong so if it is head heavy( feels heavier- not really for volleying) i can when i need to volley will be able to get it up quick enough and have control. and using my mathematics and physics have decided to get the wilson hyper hammer 145. the 120ph will be harder to control where your shot goes but easier on the arm and increase arm speed. the dunlop g-force 50 is what i currently use and it is great and exceptionally durable. its heavier but head light and a slightly different shaped head.

i’m going next week and i’m really nervous because i’m not the best squash player…my parents are making me go. their very …..pushy and demanding. im 17 years old and i just want to know if i will have a good time or what goes on there?

Why do tennis players drink orange squash and eat bananas during a match?
At least I think it’s orange squash.
The drinks are probably isotonic drinks, that rehydrate the body and they do come in several flavours. Bananas are a source of enegry, provided you eat it sparingly and not gobble 2 or 3 in one go!
is squash good for football players?
how does squash benefit football players
I am only an amateur football player but yes it is very good for any sports men/women! Not only is it good fun to play but it helps footwork… hand-eye co-ordination and is also a very good intense workout if you play properly!
So yes absolutely it’s good for football players
Should I play racquetball or squash?
I’m really exited because I got a racquetball racket, a racquetball ball and a eye protection. However, the price for indoor racquetball is too expensive and I can’t afford it. There is an outdoor squash court that is free. Should I go there and play one-player squash with my racquetball racket?
go for it, you got nothin to lose
What universities offer squash scholarships?
This link states that many ivy league schools offer this. However, I have researched this and none of those schools have mentioned squash scholarships. Will and university recruit you if you are an advanced squash player?
Thanks!

Don’t waste your time looking on YA for an answer to your question. Go to the Admissions office at your school. They will give the most accurate information.
Question: I don’t think that the Ivy League schools have much of an agriculture department. Squash seems to be grown primarily in the south.

Squash is way better than racquetball.
Should squash get more air time?
I am a squash player of a resonable standerd but I have noticed that compared to tennis and badmington squash is rarly shown on tv, I understand that squash is more awkward to provide coverage because of the enclosed space on court but even still by todays standerds surly it can get more air time, squash is widley enjoyed across the world and has a loyal following so why is it so underated on tv i mean there are more boring sports to watch i.e. golf
your thoughts
I love to watch squash so yes it would be nice.
Racquetball on a squash court?
Is it possible to play racquetball on a squash court? There aren’t any courts around where I live, and I’m just wondering if squash players would turn their nose up to something like that.
Also, if anyone lives near or around Oshawa, Ontario… Would you know where I could find a court BESIDES Kingsway College?
An American squash court is 5ft longer and 5ft wider than a regular racquetball court, however the international squash court dimensions are pretty different.
The front wall of a squash court will have a a line about 17 inches off the floor called the "tin" which is usually raised off the wall (like a dado rail) and will cause the ball to take a different trajectory if hit. The upper line on the front wall is a similar height at about 20ft, and you can ignore the lines on the side walls.
The squash service line is quite a bit further back from the front wall – it lies approximately 5ft beyond where the receiving line is in racquetball!
Personally I think you should be fine playing the game, but in terms of serving and floor markings you might have to have some kind of gentleman’s agreement beforehand when determining service.
squash players- do you find your swing get’s spoiled if you play tennis as well?
is there anything you can do to stop this?
I definitely think it does! To prevent this I simply had to quit tennis. I know a lot of tennis players who are automatically able to adapt, but I was not one of those, and I play squash competitively, so I decided to choose it over tennis.
Talk to your coach for advice. Mine suggested that I held my squash racquet while watching TV to get used to the different grip than practice swings in my room. Practice is really the only way to get back to your squash swings.

are their any professional squash players who are African american women?
I’m just curious to know this information, can anybody help me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squash_(sport)
It depends how you define "professional." Professional can mean in the top 10, in the the top 1000, anything, really. I guarantee you that there are a lot of African American women in the top 100 in American squash. However, squash is a relatively uncommon sport in the United States and most of the top players are relatively unknown; therefore, I couldn’t find anyone (but I did look).
I know a lot of teenagers who are the top of their ladders and they are black (a lot of them are ranked top 1000 too; whereas, I’m currently ranked 1200 something Nationwide). Although, squash is a club sport and primarily thought of as a "caucasian dominated sport."

Any squash players out there?
What I’m wondering is why there is a HANDBALL section, but no squash section!! and, also, I’m wondering how many people actually play squash. ANDDD, what racket do you play with??
There really does need to be a squash section! I’ve been playing for 8 years competitively and I love, love, love squash. I currently train and compete with Head’s Cyano 115. It’s very light, powerful, and I have a lot of control over the ball! In the past I’ve used various Harrow racquets, some Wilsons (although I don’t like Wilson racquets at all), and my first racquet was the Prince Starter Kit racquet (it was absolutely awful, but when I started, I knew nothing about the sport).

What are the names of the first games consols, in the 70′s, that where plugged into the tv?
These where the ones which had a black screen and had white blocks for the players. The only games that they had on them were tennis, football and squash
First was Pong by Magnavox, but Atari sued for rights. Odyssey 1 by Magnavox had templets that were placed on the TV screen to move dots around various mazes,
Then Atari.
does playing squash more often make your one side make more muscular and stronger ?
I have been playing squash for a long time now .. I’m a right handed player … recently I started noticing that my right leg is more muscular and more thicker and stronger compared to my leg leg and same about my arms … is it because of the game ? … cause it true that while playing that game most of the times my right arm and right leg is at work and stressed … so what do u suggest should I stop playing the game as that is making be deformed !!!
In most cases, yes. Naturally a right handed person has a stronger right arm leg ect. You’re right hand is even slightly bigger than the left! It is usually not a noticeable diffrence, but one way to stop it is to try and workout your left side. Happy Squashing!
Tendinitis of wrist and playing racket sports?
I suffered from tendinitis of the wrist (the tendon that connects the thumb to the wrist) about a year ago, and also about 9 years ago. Both times after many months of on and off pain the doctor fixed it via a cortisone shot. I used to be a heavy badminton player but quit the game due to strain on my wrist. I am also a squash player and continue to play the game. However, anytime I play more than 1-2 times/week my wrist starts to hurt, forcing me to back off. Seems the tendon in the right wrist is chronically weak. Is there anything that can be done to ‘strengthen’ it? Will it get worse as I get older – I would hate to have to stop playing squash. Any advice is appreciated.
squeezing a tennis ball can help strengthen the muscles in the wrist. You should wear a wrist support when you play squash, you’ve got to support the week.. It’s hard to say if it will get worse it depends upon your strengthening it and not overdoing sports.
Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.
I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods

Does it look like we have an imposter in our organization ?
1. P. was an elite squash player.
Not at all surprising that he might be playing squash with the captain of the navy base.
P. was doing the most difficult programming.
There’s some evidence that D. might have doctored the executable model
of the system being coded.
The captain asked P. about the difficulty of the work and P. answered.
P. was censured by D. for talking to the captain.
2. A simulator was being set up in a new building.
Someone decided the existing simulator, in another building, was not needed.
The DT&E lab that existed in the other building was cleared out. (All wiring etc. was removed as well).
Then it was realized that a DT&E lab would still be needed.
A. assisted with the wiring.
A report was written saying that A. hadn’t assisted.
Somehow there was a culture in the organization to accept rather than query written documents.
3. V. was noted for good quality work.
He was asked to witness some factory tests. He must have come up with the “wrong” findings, as he was told he was poor at report writing, and was not asked to witness further factory tests.
4. On some Tuesday nights there was an opportunity to trial new system builds.
There was a special simulator system to drive the rest of the system. J. and L. came along, intending to “drive” the simulator. “D” appears on the night, and tells L. to go home, saying J. can work by himself.
Clearly D is a weasel and should be investgated

Which Squash racquet for a beginner?
I’ve played before.. so know the rules but have no idea how good I am compared to other players so still regard myself as amateur. I want a new racquet but which is good? Or which should I avoid? I have a very limited budget, I just don’t want something that’s going to break too easily..
I’ve seen some for as little as £20 on amazon..
Any advice?
okay, i’ve been playing squash since i was 5 so i think i know,
f your a child you want one weighing lower than 20lbs, u dont want to to big or long,
but if your an adult get one thats heavier, dont get a good brand beacuse your beginning
i reccomend prince for beginners.
Does playing squash screw up playing Piano????
I am really seeking for this question answer cauz I am a piano player but i love playing squash and tennis and i heard that these sports stiffen the wrist which is not good for piano playing…soooo???
Playing squash and tennis will have little effect your piano playing until you get older . . . unless you get hurt. I would imagine there is a greater risk of injury when playing squash than when playing tennis. You have to determine the relative importance of each activity for you.
Why allow womens` boxing into the Olympics?
and deny squash players the opportunity?
I can`t think there would be much interest in either sport, both are as boring as watching paint dry.
This politically correct BS. There is not a big demand or following for women’s boxing. This has ruined 2012 for me as Boxing is my favourite olympic sport.
What are the chances that I get accepted to Williams College?
I am going to enter junior year at a top high school in NYC
as of now i have a gpa of a 3.6
I received a 730 on my bio sat II
I am a competitive squash player (top 50 in the country)
I am the captain of my school tennis team
I am on the debate team, science research team (I plan to enter the NYC science far this upcoming year)
Your chances are going to be slim no matter what because of the simple fact that only 18 percent of their applicant are accpeted but you do have a chance. First you need to get your GPA up to about a 3.8+. Also if you have not started to already, you need to take the most challenging courses at your school. Also you need to try to get into the top 10 percent of your class. Also your ACT and SAT scores need to be high, i suggest you take both the SAT and ACT as some do better on the ACT. Here’s some of the averages for the middle 50 percent of accpeted students
SAT:
% Submitting Score:95%
Critical Reading Middle 50%:670 – 760
Math Middle 50%:670 – 760
ACT:
% Submitting Score:18%
ACT Middle 50%:29 – 33
Students in Top Tenth of HS Class:89%
Students in Top Quarter of HS Class:100%
Your extracirriculars are great and colleges will love the factg that you are in leadership positions. Right now I’ll give you about a 30 percent chance to get in, but if you can raise your GPA you can probably be at a 50 percent chance. I suggest you apply to it as a reach but do not expect or rely on getting in there. Good luck!

Maybe you need to join a squash club and get yourself a good coach to teach you the basics and the right way to play, then you need to improve your physic and be fit to be able to play squash.
I’ve been playing squash myself for the last 20 years and I play for the first team in a large squash club in London.
what is your fav squash player? i like nicol ann david from malaysia.now she is in 1st ranking.how about you?

Squash is lame?
I am a squash player. And when I tell my friends that, they’ll all be "uh.." Why is squash considered a "lame game?" As far as I know, you need intelligence and agility to play this game! Not only that, you need to be super fit! So why is squash considered to be a lamer game than tennis or badminton? It’s really sad to see squash a dying sport. ):
its considered lame just because its not a hugely popular and common sport. In today’s society anything that poeple arnt familiar with is lame because they dont want to feel stupid for being out of the loop or heaven forbid they not know everything.
i personally like sqaush. only done it like once with a friend but it was fun
Which one of these racquet sports most resemble tennis?
If you put the #1 table tennis player, the #1 racquetball player, the #1 squash player, the #1 badmington player on the tennis court and put a tennis racquet in their hand and make them play tennis. Which one will win?
Racquetball would win. The reason being, it is the one that most resembles the tennis ball bounce and the racket head is the closest in size. Also, its the one where the player needs to cover more area and swing on the move much like tennis.
Squash player would not be as good because tennis balls bounce higher than squash balls and you need to accommodate the the larger bounce arch. Also the tennis ball is much heavier so a large adjustment would be needed to accommodate the longer swings.
Badminton player would have no chance. The speed would kill him as well as the ball and racket being so much heavier for tennis.
Table tennis player would also not stand a chance. The ball and racket dynamics are way to different.
Squash Vs Tennis Racquets?
Hi. How do you differentiate between a tennis racket and a squash racket?
and is there any significant dress code/ accessory tt a squash player wears?
Squash racquets have a different shape then tennis racquets. Squash racquets are smaller and look like an upside down triangle with rounded edges when you hold it or an upside down tear or rain drop. Squash players usually wear googles.
Was there massive fraud on the Collins submarine project ?
I have been profiling those involved. One or two are a bit shady.
Incident : elite squash player, playing squash with Navy Captain. Captain asks about a project. Elite squash player tries to answer correctly. Gets back to shady person, who criticises elite squash player.
Hello. Same shady person pops up on Collins project.
I make no apologies for the question.
The simple answer should be "No".
I don’t think squash had anything to do with the Submarine project, which was to rebuild 6 submarines.

5 x Wilson NTeam squash rackets – any other UK helpers please?
I’ve found these rackets at £57.99, which is the cheapest in the UK, but the seller is offering them at that price if he gets 5 people buying it. They are £75 in his own shop! Are there any other UK squash players here that can help me with this deal?

Sport like squash but using hands instead of a raquet???! What is it?!?
Whilst on holiday in Europe, I saw briefly a sport on TV which looked the same or v.similar as squash, but the players were using their hands to hit the ball rather than a raquet? What is the sport?? I’m desperate to give it a go, so also are there any clubs etc in England or any interest in the sport at all?
Sounds like Handball to me (not team handball, which is the handball on the yahoo forums, but handball as in using your hand to hit the ball into the wall.). I think it is more popular in America than it is in Europe of the British Isles.
Why Isn’t Squash In The Olympics??
Tennis is in and non of the players actually give a s**t. Winning the Olympic Gold is supposed to be the pinnacle of someones sports career, yet in Tennis, the players used Athens 2004 as a warm up to the US Open. At least squash players would all turn up and give 20000% to win it!!
is squash even a sport….my like a silly game

I wouldnt recommend using the same shoe for running and for squash.
For squash, you would require shoes that has a rubber sole, just like in badminton. You can get it rather cheap in departmental stores.
For running, its better to just use running shoe and not use squash shoes for running. Coz the shoe would be worn out easily.
If you want to cut cost, a pair of shoes with rubber sole would be fine for running and squash. But never use running shoe for squash.
Anyway, Enjoy your game!
