Egyptian Rowing .. 100 Years

The Egyptian Rowing Federation is one of the earliest sports federations to be established anywhere in the world. It is also a founding member of the Egyptian Olympic Committee at its establishment time in 1910.

Since 1907 and throughout 100 years history, Egypt participates in competitions at all levels: world, Olympics, African and Arab., as a result of the contribution, effort and passion from Egypt Rowing family members. During these competitions, champions do their best to raise the Egyptian Flag and be on the awarding podium.

Pool World Cup Tournament (2007)

The Pool World Cup Tournament is set to be launched in the Sunrise Beach – Hurghada on August 27, 2007.

The event is organized by the Akhbar al-Yom Third World Foundation.

17 Egyptian players are competing in the three-day tournament.

Only 13 out of a total of 84 playing in the preliminaries will make it to the finals.

Because of their international seeding, 19 players have already become finalists, bringing the number of those competing in the finals to 32.

Egyptians are hard bent on securing advanced places. It is to be noted that Ihab al-Misiri and Sameh Sidhum are already in the finals

Amr ShabanaAmr Shabana is a professional squash player from Egypt. He won the World Open in 2003 and 2005, and reached the World No. 1 ranking in 2006.

Shabana stunned the squash world in December 2003 when, seeded ninth, he captured his first World Open title, beating Thierry Lincou in the final 15-11, 11-15, 15-8, 15-14.

In 2004, Shabana finished runner-up at the British Open, losing in the final to David Palmer 10-11 (4-6), 11-7, 11-10 (3-1), 11-7.

Shabana won his second World Open title in 2005, beating Palmer in the final 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.

In April 2006, Shabana became the first Egyptian player to reach the World No. 1 ranking. He also won the Bermuda PSA Masters that same month.
