I want to be an actress should i…?

Here’s the deal! I have always wanted to be an actress. Theater and film actress. The problem is I live in a small country in C.A. I am currently studying architecture I am doing very well in my classes which is actually hard to come by. I am also in Tae Kwon do lessons, violin and in an acting school where I will graduate in 4 years and get a degree in acting and directing. As you may see I lead a very busy Life I don’t mind I always have something to do. And I manage to exeed in all of my areas.
I only began in this acting school in january but have taken other acting classes before. And participated in a national theater play last year.

I have been considering lately leaving architecture and possibly the country to study theater anywhere else. Because If I finish architecture school I will graduate at age 22, in four years. Although by that time I will have for sure at least 8 plays under my belt, and any other commercials, tv, movies I can get to participate in.

I also travel to the states every summer so I figured I could do some castings while there maybe I’ll get lucky otherwise just to wrap around my head the idea of what a casting there is like. ( I know I need a working visa to act in the USA)

It will be 4 excruciatingly and exhausting 4 years. I am up for the challenge though . I have always thought that architecture could help me in theater and film, you know for sets, illumination, etc. And most of all to build up character and responsibility. I could change majors to communications and publicity, although I have never seen myself working behind the scenes like producing or directing and stuff so I don’t see the point except it is a short and easier(not the right word sorry I don’t mean to offend anyone) tranquil may be a better word for what I wish to mean, career.

But I thought if I am going to change majors it has to be for theater and film or drama or at the very least art.

For you working actors out there or people who have a pre-grad in theater, film or drama. What would your advice be?

Should I turn my back on what may be a promising career for me, and it is a career that I like otherwise I think I would have made the decision to change majors a long time ago, I considered it a lot but never did it.

But I want advice from people that really live it out there. Is 22 too old? Should I go away to make my dream come true? Will it most likely not happen?

Also note I am not entirely thin and have a lot of stretch marks, I had thought that in theses for years I can take my time to get fit, healthy and work on getting better skin and vanishing my multiple stretchmarks as much as possible.

Are the stretchmarks a huge downer? Should I squash my dream and only stick to architecture? Or do I go away and dedicate my entire life to studying theater and hopefully become a working actress? Or should I stick to my plan of finishing architecture and then continuing and working hard to expectantly become an actress someday??

So I do ask working actors, and people in general what you think? I will take into consideration what people with experience say.

You think too much.
Procrastinating is the biggest dream killer.
It probably took you longer to write this than it would take to perform a monologue and upload it to Youtube.

Be active about what you want in life.
