They have really slowed the courts in tennis in the last 5-10 yrs. This has given the returner a greater advantage. 15 yrs. ago, server and volley was the main mode of attack for the server at Wimbledon. Now, there a few S & V’s because they have slowed the Wimbledon court (also racket technology has played a role).

The point is that tennis and squash are completely different in terms of serve! A bad serve in either game will lose you the point but a good serve in tennis gives you an advantage you do not have in squash. I think this is what the guy is trying to say.

OUCH!!!! The return of serve can be devastating in tennis. Men and women pros hit crushing returns of serve when given weak serves. I went to the women’s pro tourney in Cincy. We are going thru a period of poor serving on the women’s game. Pam Shriver mentioned this. Anyway, there were more winners on return of serves than there were on actual serves. He needs to watch more pro tennis.

The obvious way to clear the ball is to step back after playing and allowing the opponent to pass b4 moving to the tee
It sounds like the real problem is the shots arnt tight, leaving you open to lets&strokes. Get your weight moving forward when hitting the ball & really “push” it down the wall, this should hopefully tighten the return giving you plenty of time to clear
Taking pace off the ball is a great way to buy time, hit the wall a little bit higher with about 40% power, focus on accuracy

I find your videos useful but the problem I have with making a return like this is how to clear adequately. In the examples you show, I don’t see how the server can get past the receiver to get the ball. I would hope you could make some videos on clearing in cases like this. Or perhaps I have it wrong: perhaps it is considered that there is enough room to get in to get the return? Then we need a video on how to do that.
