Does putting squash in water affect how good it is for you?

We all know we’re supposed to drink lots of water to be healthy – I’ve been drinking more recenty in place of tea to try to be a bit healthier, but I always put in some squash, to give the water flavour. Does this have much of an affect on how good for you the water is, or is it still about the same?

Health professionals have told me that as soon as you add anything to water it takes a different route through your body. They said it goes down the ‘food’ route and doesn’t do so much good. Also squash usually contains sugar or artificial sweeteners which is harmful. If you can find organic fruit drinks and look at the ingredients some are unsweetened a lot nicer and a lot better for you.

No, it’s still the same, as long as you use a good quality, no added sugar squash such as Robinsons Special R.

Plain water is best because your body has to process out more chemicals and additives with tea or squash, it has to work harder

About the same, plus the sugar, artificial sweeteners, colourings, flavourings, preservatives….

Apparently not, by putting squash in the water your body absorbs less water. Therefore it is still not the same as drinking water on its own.

That’s interesting – I don’t think it would hurt or change much. Just enjoy! Water is life. Squash adds color!
