I have a vegetable garden and one of my plants is a crookneck squash. I’m starting to see little squash starting to grow and I already have a squash thats getting big. So how can I tell that the squash is ready to be picked?
As far as the yellow squash, and zucchinis, go, I pick mine when they are between 6 and 8 inches in length. They are so much better at this smaller size. Farmers usually sell by the pound, so you find bigger ones in the stores, but the smaller ones are the way to go.
You should of kept the package it came in it usually list the time from seedling to maturity. And typically the color of the mature squash usually starts out green when ripen it turns a bright yellow.

Small tender squashes have delicate skin and smaller seeds, so pick them young. They tend to continue producing longer when you keep picking them.
