NOT SQUASH as in butternut/pumpkin but squash as in orange squash. In the UK drinks you dilute with water are either described as a squash or a cordial. Orange flavour is always a squash but lime flavour is always a cordial. What’s the difference?
If you want to be posh you call it cordial, if not then it’s squash! Apparently the word cordial derives from an obsolete medical term from the latin cordialis. Also it appears that squash is a cordial but is cordial a squash?
I know how to play squash but not cordial.

A cordial is an extremely sweet fruit flavored concentrate for a drink, whereas squash is a fruit or vegetable flavored syrup for a vegetable drink.
A cordial is an extremely sweet (when undiluted) non-alcoholic fruit flavored drink concentrate that is diluted with water to taste. Some of the more well-known cordials are Cottees and Golden Circle branded cordials. Cordial is most popular in Australia and New Zealand, having a large market share in competition with fruit juices and soft drinks.
A cordial is any invigorating and stimulating preparation; as, a peppermint cordial. The term derives from obsolete medical usage, as various beverages were concocted which were believed to be beneficial to ones health, especially for the heart (cordial is, Latin).
Alcoholic cordials are also known as liqueurs.
A cordial is also a type of candy, in which a fruit filling is placed within a chocolate shell. A well known confectionery of this type is the cherry cordial.
In the West Indies the name "squash" is used to describe a lime juice drink, similar to lemonade.
