Where can I find information about growing Squash in Florida?

I’m a beginner at gardening and I live in a Zone 8 or 9. I really want to plant either summer squash, or crookneck squash. Just mainly a yellow squash! Anybody know if I can plant some now or am I too late?

Hey Moxie Girl,

You can plant them now, and they will produce way into the fall. You did get a late start but should still get some by August.

You are getting a late start but they’ll be fine. In Florida we have a long growing season. I usually make my last planting of corn in late July or early August. Here is a site that will help you:

Here is one from Northwest Florida with some good information:

They both have some excellent information, regardless of your exact location.

    Good luck and enjoy!
